Thankful

I was going to title this "After Thanksgiving"...but thought that would be sooo wrong. Thanksgiving goes on and on, and one of the things I'm most thankful for is my amazing children, their spouses, and my grandchildren...and the family pets :>) Thanks for the time you all spent here - it was such a fun holiday for us, and really relaxing.

And now I'm ready to turn my thoughts to Christmas, but won't have time until the weekend (or next week) to begin preparations. By then I'll really be in the mood since we have our "Christmas in the Country" on Friday and Saturday nights, and our heart sister Christmas dinner next Tuesday. Shirley Johnson and I finished planning the program for the heart sisters last Sunday night, and today I've spent part of the morning putting together a "Mrs Santa" costume for the skits on the weekend (luckily, we keep a lot of odds and ends around this house, so I have possibilities...). Other things on my agenda today - call people for the heart sister affair, and then go to the grocery store and get evaporated milk so I can make turkey divan for supper and use some leftover turkey (sound good, Abby?) The sad news for today is that we have to miss Thomas's band concert since your dad has a meeting tonight (actually, he has two)...so Thomas, stick with your clarinet, and we'll plan to be at the next concert!

Actually, I won't keep going on, but just wanted to say how great it was to have each of you here for the weekend. I found Anna's little note this morning as I was putting things away - "Luve Yor litL grand children"...and I surely do! Each one is so precious - Noah so new and sweet, with all his cute expressions; and Anna - growing so fast and drawing and writing and still looking for the bear brothers; and Thomas, already so grown up - hey, he's not sure he even wants hugs anymore! ( but he gets them anyway)
'Tis all a good time!

So - now I know you're all back to your normal routines, and I hope you're each having a good, good week. Farkle on.... Love you, Mom

And some more pics

I am 8 weeks today!

Hello Family- Noah is doing great and is growing so fast. It's hard to believe it was 8 weeks ago that he ventured into this world. In the past few weeks, Noah has made some big changes such as smiling, a few random laughs, and being much more alert. He went from being a blob to having a personality. We are so in love. We have also had some big family changes. As a family we have decided that Megan will not return to work but instead have the best job ever at home taking care of Noah. Possibly in a year she may return. Enjoy the pics- and we look forward to seeing you all soon next weekend.

hallo

here are some halloween pictures for all of you... freshly carved two days ago.  hope your halloweens were spookirific.  matt

Halloween

OK, where are all those great Halloween pictures? I'm pretty sure Thomas and Anna had something to do with costumes and candy on Wednesday night, and I heard that even Noah got to celebrate his first holiday in style...and didn't anyone carve an artistic pumpkin??? So --- how about some posts so we can see all the fun?!

We had the usual halloween crowd here, and it was a lot of fun...probably about 80 kids. Your dad was at church so I had all the duties at home myself...I really didn't sit down for about two and a half hours, as the doorbell just kept ringing, so it wasn't the most relaxing evening, but it was fun to see kids having such a good time. And especially the little ones were just giggly and so excited...it was great weather and most kids had adults with them, and often the adults were in costume too. I even found a big orange plastic light up pumpkin in the basement (a momento of your dad's days at LLMHS) so I put that up outside. I haven't done outdoor decorating for halloween since the ghosts on the light fixtures and the resulting "teenager trap"...and this was pretty tame, but at least I felt I got in the spirit of it all :>)

I'm now glad the work week is over for me - I've worked 10-12 hour days trying to catch up on things, so I'm ready for a break. Tomorrow we go to Dennie and Cindy's - your dad has a meeting in the morning so we probably won't get there until about 3:30...but hopefully Cindy and I will have some time to shop, and then we're going to relax for the evening (and eat steaks off the grill) --- sounds like an excellent time.

On Saturday I plan to catch up with lawn and house work, and on Sunday I serve communion, work in the church nursery (I don't know yet how I'll do both), plus we have a potluck...so that day will start out busy...

I know you all have a lot going on...I haven't even talked too much on the phone this week because of my long hours at work, so feel I need to touch bases with all of you and find out about your lives. But hope all's going well....and as I said at the start...how about some Halloween posts???
Love you, Mom
