Noah is getting better sleeping through the night. For the past week he has gone to bed around 8:30/9 pm and slept until 5 am. Hopefully this will continue. The coming weekend we dont have much planned. Megan and her mom are having a big baking day on Sunday while I watch the football game with Noah. Have a great rest of the week!!

Happy Monday

Hello Family,
I hope your monday is going well. Things here in the Horn Household are going great. Noah slept through the night for the first time last night! He went to bed around 8:30 pm and woke up around 5:30 am. It was amazing. Megan and I were able to play a round of skippo and relax together before going to bed. Hopefully this is a sign of whats to come!

Talk to you all soon!

Thankful

I was going to title this "After Thanksgiving"...but thought that would be sooo wrong. Thanksgiving goes on and on, and one of the things I'm most thankful for is my amazing children, their spouses, and my grandchildren...and the family pets :>) Thanks for the time you all spent here - it was such a fun holiday for us, and really relaxing.

And now I'm ready to turn my thoughts to Christmas, but won't have time until the weekend (or next week) to begin preparations. By then I'll really be in the mood since we have our "Christmas in the Country" on Friday and Saturday nights, and our heart sister Christmas dinner next Tuesday. Shirley Johnson and I finished planning the program for the heart sisters last Sunday night, and today I've spent part of the morning putting together a "Mrs Santa" costume for the skits on the weekend (luckily, we keep a lot of odds and ends around this house, so I have possibilities...). Other things on my agenda today - call people for the heart sister affair, and then go to the grocery store and get evaporated milk so I can make turkey divan for supper and use some leftover turkey (sound good, Abby?) The sad news for today is that we have to miss Thomas's band concert since your dad has a meeting tonight (actually, he has two)...so Thomas, stick with your clarinet, and we'll plan to be at the next concert!

Actually, I won't keep going on, but just wanted to say how great it was to have each of you here for the weekend. I found Anna's little note this morning as I was putting things away - "Luve Yor litL grand children"...and I surely do! Each one is so precious - Noah so new and sweet, with all his cute expressions; and Anna - growing so fast and drawing and writing and still looking for the bear brothers; and Thomas, already so grown up - hey, he's not sure he even wants hugs anymore! ( but he gets them anyway)
'Tis all a good time!

So - now I know you're all back to your normal routines, and I hope you're each having a good, good week. Farkle on.... Love you, Mom

And some more pics

I am 8 weeks today!

Hello Family- Noah is doing great and is growing so fast. It's hard to believe it was 8 weeks ago that he ventured into this world. In the past few weeks, Noah has made some big changes such as smiling, a few random laughs, and being much more alert. He went from being a blob to having a personality. We are so in love. We have also had some big family changes. As a family we have decided that Megan will not return to work but instead have the best job ever at home taking care of Noah. Possibly in a year she may return. Enjoy the pics- and we look forward to seeing you all soon next weekend.

hallo

here are some halloween pictures for all of you... freshly carved two days ago.  hope your halloweens were spookirific.  matt

Halloween

OK, where are all those great Halloween pictures? I'm pretty sure Thomas and Anna had something to do with costumes and candy on Wednesday night, and I heard that even Noah got to celebrate his first holiday in style...and didn't anyone carve an artistic pumpkin??? So --- how about some posts so we can see all the fun?!

We had the usual halloween crowd here, and it was a lot of fun...probably about 80 kids. Your dad was at church so I had all the duties at home myself...I really didn't sit down for about two and a half hours, as the doorbell just kept ringing, so it wasn't the most relaxing evening, but it was fun to see kids having such a good time. And especially the little ones were just giggly and so excited...it was great weather and most kids had adults with them, and often the adults were in costume too. I even found a big orange plastic light up pumpkin in the basement (a momento of your dad's days at LLMHS) so I put that up outside. I haven't done outdoor decorating for halloween since the ghosts on the light fixtures and the resulting "teenager trap"...and this was pretty tame, but at least I felt I got in the spirit of it all :>)

I'm now glad the work week is over for me - I've worked 10-12 hour days trying to catch up on things, so I'm ready for a break. Tomorrow we go to Dennie and Cindy's - your dad has a meeting in the morning so we probably won't get there until about 3:30...but hopefully Cindy and I will have some time to shop, and then we're going to relax for the evening (and eat steaks off the grill) --- sounds like an excellent time.

On Saturday I plan to catch up with lawn and house work, and on Sunday I serve communion, work in the church nursery (I don't know yet how I'll do both), plus we have a potluck...so that day will start out busy...

I know you all have a lot going on...I haven't even talked too much on the phone this week because of my long hours at work, so feel I need to touch bases with all of you and find out about your lives. But hope all's going well....and as I said at the start...how about some Halloween posts???
Love you, Mom

October note

Gosh - almost the end of October and I don't think I've posted all month. But then - none of the rest of you have been very faithful in posting either, so I can't feel too guilty! But what a great month it's been - watching Noah who's waking up and viewing the world, attending some beautiful weddings, enjoying a "girl's weekend" with Abby and Anna in the Cities and having a good time at the shower, and even getting to attend Thomas's musical at his school...It seems like I worked, worked, worked this month, but when I look back, I see I've also had some great relaxing times too!
And today was another of those relaxing times...we had such fun on our bus trip to see The Church Basement Ladies at the Plymouth Playhouse. At the risk of sounding like a real senior citizen, I have to admit that both your dad and I found the bus ride up and back totally pleasant --- we passed the time by visiting (a lot), having bottled water and cookies - better than bread and water, and later having birthday cake, listening to a lot of jokes to pass the time, and doing a number of word puzzles just for fun. We also had some time to read, and stopped for lunch and supper (By the way, we were at Emma Krumbee's, Abby, and it really made me feel bad that we didn't get there with Anna because it was such a nice place to visit...so let's try for next year). And the play was so much fun --- I'm thinking none of you would relate quite so much to it, but it certainly reflects a lot of what we've seen in a very humorous way and we had a lot of laughs...so what a nice way to spend our day.
Now we're ready to gear up for the trip to Will's wedding...and we're totally looking forward to some family time there and time to catch up with everyone (everyone but A/J/T and A...) Abby, I'm really curious about how your new job seems, so will talk to you soon, or call and let me know. And I'm fully expecting Halloween pictures on the blog next week -- Thomas and Anna for sure...and does Noah dress for Halloween too??
So --- hope you all are having a good, good week...talk soon. Love you,Mom

catchup

hey everyone... it has been a while since the last post and i really don't have much to say because i feel like i have seen each of you quite a bit over the past few weeks. life is going fairly well, though it is really busy with work (feeling like there is so much i need to learn which is nice but a bit overwhelming). it was nice to have abby and anna in the cities last week and i really enjoyed it, so thanks abby for making the trek up. thanks to mom and dad for making a point to come down to my neck of the woods as well... i really appreciate that you are interested in seeing where i live and what i do (what good parents we have!). also, it was great to have dinner at peter and megans last week... thanks for hosting all of us. i look forward to will's wedding coming up soon and was wondering if we could car pool to alex.? hope all is going well with each of you, matt

hi

I love the baby pictures. I show them at work all the time- and everyone thinks Noah is one of the best looking babies they've seen. Keep posting them.
I'm starting to feel better- so hopefully I will actually get to hold Noah on Sat. I'm really looking forward to it.
The kids went to Dennie and Cindy's for the weekend. They went to the pumpkin patch-which really impressed Anna. She made me take this picture so that she could take it to school to show her friends in the morning.
Justin went hunting this weekend- I'll post a picture of his antelope. Sarah- please disregard. I'm sure you all will probably get lots of jerky for Christmas.
I better go- bedtime for the kids (yes- I really do start getting them to bed this early. You will understand someday. It is 7:20- on the bottom of the screen it says 5:20 and I assure you that I am not quite that mean. Pretty mean, but not that mean.) Talk later. Abby
The pictures of the aspens were from by Harney Peak in the Black Hills- they stopped by on the way back from Wyoming to do some climbing. That is my brother-in-law in the picture with the antelope. Notice that Justin's is bigger. That may not seem important, but trust me, it is to some people.

Clean bill of health

Noah had his first doctor appointment today and everything looks great. He still has a little jaundice and we just need to keep an eye on him to make sure it doesnt get worse. Also...Noah is finally breastfeeding successfully as of today. We went to the lactation counselor and he did great. Hopefully this means Megan can relax and not have to pump so much. Basically, Noah eats, sleeps, and poops a whole lot! (Just like Daddy). We both are so in love with our son and cant imagine life without him. Abby- we cant wait for you to meet your birthday sharing nephew!!!

And thanks grandma and grandpa for visiting this past weekend. It is so nice that all these wedding fell on the weekends following Noah's birth. It means a lot to us that you are able to watch him grow and change. Matt and Sarah- thanks for the support and love. Noah loves the book you gave him uncle matt. And Sarah- the winnie the pooh hat and stuffed bear are adorable. Thanks for everything!

Love you all,
Megan, Peter, Noah, and Toby

New Baby Pictures

Hello, I don't have a lot of time to talk, but I just wanted to post some quick pictures. Noah Matthew is doing good. He still has a little bit of jaundice so he needs to stay under the lights, but at least he can do that at home. He actually sleeps really well and only wakes at night for eating. However, the jaundice can cause drowsiness so this might change when he gets better. He is a true blessing to our family. Enjoy the pictures.
